Last night, I had a rack of lamb for dinner. Why, you might ask. I know I would. Lamb is expensive. Welp, allow me to enlighten you! A bunch of us got promotions at work. I’m one of them.
I’m super excited! You have no idea.
I’m a bit nervous, like I always am when I start something new. What if I fail? What if I’m not good enough? These questions plague me. But the good news is that my smarter half of me throws it’s weight around and reminds me that I got here on my own merits, and if my managers didn’t think I could do it, I wouldn’t have been offered the position. BOOYA!
I start tomorrow. Holy crap, I’m so excited! Knowing that you do something good enough to be recognized for what you do, and advance to a better position is just an awesome feeling.
Also: I have a tan. I dunno where it came from, but I have one. Must be all that time I’m spending out in the sun. The evil day star. My nemesis.
I went tubing down the Ocmulgee river about a month and a half ago, followed by a delicious barbecue cookout for the 4th of July (which was EPIC and awesome and full of win. I cooked.
) Oh, and I went Jet-skiing last weekend. SO MUCH FUN!
My dad invited us out, so my roommate and I decided to take him up on his offer. My roommate has never been jet-skiing, so it was a real treat for him. I haven’t been in so long, it might as well have been my first time.
There is nothing like the feeling of going 55 MPH over a lake, hitting some crazy-good air, and having a blast. We also had a tube hooked up, and went jet-skiing with a guy in the tube. DUDE. I lost my sunglasses and I didn’t even care. I had so much fun!
We wound up going around the lake a few times, just seeing how far it went and what we could see. Scott was piloting (driving? Steering?) while I made sure the back of the boat stayed firmly in the water.
He found this relatively huge wave (probably a foot and a half. Not much if you’re surfing, but when you’re in a Jet ski on the lake? It was hueg. H U E G.) He gunned it and we hit it at just the right angle to go flying!
Just when I thought nothing could top that, he flipped it around and we hit it again. Then we hit it a third time for good measure. Four hours out on the lake was enough to tire me out and leave my arms tired and sore the rest of the week.
It was a good hurt though. Hanging on to the tube while careening down the lake doing donuts. Definitely good times.
One last thing: The VNV Nation concert was awesome, that’s all I have to say.
I’m on book 4 of A Song of Ice and Fire. I’ve read all the books, and now I’m listening to them in audiobook format. It’s such an awesome series! It has all the trimmings of fantasy, but it’s a lot grittier and more grown up. The cast of characters is quite HUGE, which makes for an interesting method of storytelling. You feel like you get all aspects of the war that is going on, and at times, it’s hard to remember which faction is supposed to be the ‘bad guys’:)
Speaking of…
I picked up a new phone as well. It’s a Motorola Moto Z6C. It flaunts such things as “Best connection world-wide” and bluetooth and all sorts of features I’ll never use. I wanted it for 2 things: Custom Ringtones, and a kickass camera. Seriously, this thing comes with a 2 megapixel camera built into the PHONE. I love this thing so much. <3
