Dok’Thun, and company.

Every week, my buddies and I try to get together for D&D.  I’d like to think that our characters are fairly interesting.  We’ve certainly been through a lot together.  We’ve hit that nice stride in a group, where we’ve become downright cohesive, don’t have many inter-character arguments, and we feel like we know what’s going on in the world.

With christmas coming up in a few months, I’ve commissioned Armando to draw each of our characters, each to our own specifications.  :D   I’m going to get them printed out and framed for everyone!  He finished up my character the other day, and will work on the next one soon.  In the interim, I’ve decided to recount a few of our many adventures here on muh blog.

Dok’Thun is my character.  Crunch-wise, he is a barbarian who wields big, powerful weapons in an attempt to smash his enemies.  He’s currently 8th level (6th level barbarian, 2nd level Elemental Rager.  Elemental Rager is a Prestige Class I developed, where you become infused by the power of an element when you rage.)  He’s a big bad brutish powerhouse.

Now for the good stuff.  Dok’Thun was born on the Arrow Isles, far to the south of the main continent of Insert-Name Here. (I’ve forgotten. >_<)  As a child, he was captured and sold into slavery.  Eventually, he was taken to the town of Seavale, where he met a dwarf named Kennen (Erin’s Character.  Dwarven Rogue/Artificier.  Basically, a magical mechanic.).  Kennen broke into Dok’Thun’s owner’s mansion, in order to steal a few magical items.  Rather than alert the master, or stop the rogue.. Dok’Thun decided the best course of action would be to get Kennen to take him with her.  So together, they killed his owner and Dok’Thun was set free.  Some undetermined amount of time later, Summoner (B33J’s character.  Magely dude who summons stuff.) meets us..  or maybe he hired Kennen to break into the mansion in the first place..we’re uncertain as of yet.

**end character backstory**

Blah blah blah, some other stuff happens.. The City of Seavale hires us to investigate a slaving ring taking place outside the city..  we bust in on ‘em, steal a sky-pirate skiff (the equivalent of an airship…rowboat), report them to the proper authorities and meet up with Straid (David’s Character.  Straid is “Captain Awesome.”  Cleric of the sun-god, high charisma, shiny armor, perfect hair, dudley do-right personality.)

While investigating the slave-cave, we come across an old sea-hag and a book.  The sea-hag has been giving birth to Kua-toa, a bunch of frog-people with sticky stuff on their shields.  Dok’Thun’s warhammer gets stuck on a shield, and I bash it against a wall until most of the shield breaks.  However, my warhammer is still covered with sticky goo.  Katamari De-Mace-y, Sledge of Victory! is born!  This warhammer will get bits and pieces of the enemies stuck on it, kinda like the big rolly ball in Katamari Damacy.

Anywho, back to the sea hag.  This book that she has, turns out to be one of the books used to forge the world!  The guardians of reality send some of their peon golem after us to exterminate all knowledge of the book.  We beat up the guardian-bot, and embark on an epic journey to learn of the creation of the world.

Along the way, Dok’Thun has been shot in the face, imprisoned, tortured, nearly hanged, decapitated someone with a mace, busted out of the prison of the afterlife, swallowed whole by a dinosaur, and has been particularly bad-ass on more than one occasion.

One encounter in particular stands out.  We had just defeated a blue dragon in order to take back an elemental orb to the city of the Yuan-Ti.  They were under siege by elementals, because the orb was not in it’s proper place.

A particularly large rock elemental busts into the royal chamber, where we happen to be standing.  After getting pounded a bit, Straid sets a plan into motion.  He calls for Dok’Thun to jump onto it.  So I gear up, and make the most astounding jump I’ve ever made.  Air-Dok’thun pumps up his Nikes, and leaps 8 feet up.  Right before I leap, Straid sends his summoned light archon right into the face of the rock elemental.  It takes a swipe at the archon instead of me.   This allows me to make a fierce strike at the elemental before grabbing on with one hand and pulling myself up.  I climb onto it’s back, and proceed to beat it down, while Kennen shoots it with her bow.

Anywho..

Where we’re at now, is searching for other books used to forge the world, in order to set a trap for some evil outsider dude, who wants to remake the world.  We like the world the way it is, thanks.  So we’re gonna stop this baddie before he stops us. Permanently.   GO TEAM!

I would write more, but I just found out Firefly (or Serenity..whatever the hell it’s called) is on Hulu.   I’m distracted.

Ciao!
